Teeth in a Day
Tooth loss has several significant effects on your life. In addition to the obvious effects on the quality of your smile, tooth loss can affect your abilities to eat and speak properly. Tooth loss also impacts the health of your jawbone, causing bone loss. This bone loss causes your jaw to change shape. Your healthy teeth begin to shift out of alignment, throwing off your bite. Dental implants are a modern treatment for replacing missing teeth that have quickly become incredibly popular. Typically, it can take several months before you see your final restorations after your initial surgery. At Pacific Modern Dentistry, you can receive your final restorations right away with Teeth in a Day.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are an alternative treatment to traditional bridges and dentures. This treatment uses small titanium posts, which are surgically implanted into your jawbone, to support your dental restorations. Your bone fuses gradually to the posts as you heal, gradually turning them into strong, stable roots that can effectively hold your new teeth securely in place.
The Typical Implant Process
Dental implants are placed in a surgical procedure. Before surgery, you are provided with a local anesthetic, ensuring that you do not feel any pain. If you are anxious or fearful, we can also provide you with sedation, which will enable you to relax.
Surgery begins with small incisions in your gums, providing us with access to your jawbone. We then drill holes into the bone and place the implant posts inside. Finally, your gums are sutured closed around the posts, and temporary teeth are placed.
The temporary teeth remain in place throughout the duration of your entire recovery. Depending on your situation, healing can take several weeks to several months. Several follow-ups ensure that you are healing properly. Once you have fully healed, then the process for placing the final restorations begins. This usually takes an additional two appointments. During the first appointment, the temporary teeth are removed, abutments placed, and impressions are taken. The impressions are sent to the dental lab, where the teeth are designed and created. It can take up to two weeks for your final restorations to be completed. When they are ready, they are checked for fit and bite and secured into place.
How is Teeth in a Day Different?
With Teeth in a Day, you can leave your implant surgery appointment with your final restorations in place, completely avoiding the need for temporary restorations and additional appointments. Instead of taking impressions after you have fully healed from implant surgery, we take impressions before your surgical procedure. Using specialized software, we can custom design implants to meet your specific needs. When you arrive on the day of your scheduled surgery, your final restorations are ready and waiting for you. Once the surgery is complete, they are secured into place with small screws.
