What are Customized Esthetic Dentures?As the name indicates, customized esthetic dentures are made to order and complement facial structure naturally. When customized dentures are made correctly, they can provide our patients with a natural-looking smile that will give them confidence, improve speech caused by missing teeth, and improve chewing so the person can eat a variety of healthy foods, and prevent the face from sagging. These dentures can be realigned, and with proper care, they will last many years.  Preparation for Customized Esthetic DenturesThe first step is to extract all teeth that need to be replaced. If you want to get a full denture, we will remove any remaining natural teeth to prepare your gums for the denture, starting with the back teeth or molars. We will allow about eight weeks for the healing to be complete. In the meantime, the dentures will be built and can be put in place when you return to the office. One of the most significant advantages of using customized esthetic dentures is that our patients don't have to be without their teeth. Even if some of the front teeth are removed at the following appointment, we can send you home with your new dentures. Making a Customized Esthetic DentureOnce you are completely healed from the molar extractions, we take impressions and get a bite registration that will be used to make the dentures. Adjustments are made once you can wear your dentures comfortably. We will place temporary relines until the healing is complete and you will have to return to get the permanent relines later. Any adjustments will be completed at this time. Further adjustments may be needed as you age, due to shrinking of the bone. Making a traditional denture involves more steps and requires a longer period. We also must use a wax try-in to make sure you are happy with the way the dentures look. This is the time to make any adjustments and it may take several trips to our office.
